re:Im confused- when am i ovulating because i have 3 different theories and am tired covering all bases..?
The counting theory is just an average so you cannot depend on that.
I don't know how your doctor came up with the "exactly half way" theory; did he do tests on you for several cycles and arrive at this or was he just telling you when ovulation occurs normally? Ovulation can occur half-way through the cycle on an average (ex if you have 28 day cycle and 14 day leutal phase or 30 day cycle and 15 day LP etc) but it is different for every woman and can vary from cycle to cycle due to a number of factors. For example I ovulated on cycle day 16 last month but on day 18 this month.
Go with your OPK result because that is the most accurate. Also, invest in a basal body thermometer and take temperature every day to know when you are ovulating.
Also, you can observe secondary signs like egg-white cervical mucus, ovulation pain, increased sex drive, nipple sensitivity etc to supplement your BBT and OPK results so you will have a better idea. But not all women experience these signs, so a BBT and OPK are your best bets.
Good luck!
